PHOTOS – Katie Holmes Steps Out Wtih Suri Post Divorce! Plus She Did Not Want Scientology Interrogating Suri

Suri Cruise finally made her first public appearance since mom Katie Holmes filed for divorce from her dad Tom Cruise.

Despite all the drama and turmoil surrounding her divorce, Katie, 33, put on her happy face to take 6-year-old Suri out for ice cream last night (July 3) in Manhattan.

Is some of the pics, you can see Katie being protective of her daughter as she wrapped her arms around her while Suri was seen tenderly stroking her mother’s face.

And according to reports, Katie had FOUR bodyguards in tow. Can’t blame her as goons, believed to be from the church of Scientology, have been following her and stalking her NYC apartment. Even worse, the NY Post reported this week that some of these men were armed.

Meanwhile, it’s pretty common knowledge by now that Katie, who is seeking full custody of Suri, filed for divorce from husband of 5 years Tom so that she could protect Suri from Scientology, which many believe is a cult rather than a religion.

TMZ is also reporting this morning that Katie decided she needed to take action right away to prevent Suri from a form of interrogation practiced by Scientology called “sec checking.”

Katie reportedly witnessed Tom’s older two kids, Connor and Isabella, go through the same form of questioning back in 2005 and found it very disturbing.

Ex-Scientologists call the process “sec checking” or auditing, and reveal that during the process, the subject holds electrode handles on a device called an e-meter and is then asked a number of very personal questions that the Church claims helps locate “areas of spiritual distress.”

Some of the questions reportedly include -

– What has somebody told you not to tell?
– Have you ever decided you did not like some member of your family?
– Have you ever done something you were very much ashamed of?
– Have you ever refused to obey an order from someone you should obey?
– Have you ever gotten yourself dirty on purpose?

Even more disturbing, many ex-Scientologists believe “sec checking” is nothing more than a mild form of psychological terrorism designed to get children to report on their parents. Wowzers.
