Anne Hathaway Practiced Oscars Speech To Be “More Likable”, Says Report
Anne Hathaway has really been slightly miserable lately, finding herself the center of a lot of mean-spirited jokes surrounding her awards speeches.
The 30-year-old Oscar winner has been widely criticized for her Golden Globe, SAG and BAFTA acceptance speeches, with critics slamming her for her “little girl” voice, annoying comments, “cloying earnestness,” and an artificial air of surprise at her wins. As it turns out, Anne has been all too aware of the backlash her awards performances have been receiving, and for this reason, as well as to salvage her own feelings, she admittedly practiced her Academy Awards speech.
“It does get to me,” Anne confessed about her feelings towards the criticism she’s been receiving.. “But you have to remember in life that there’s a positive to every negative and a negative to every positive.” Further confirming that Anne has not been oblivious to the mean words being said about her, a source told Us Weekly; “She was very aware that she had been the butt of everyone’s jokes.”
Anne may have practiced her speech, but it was all for naught, as people found yet another thing to bash her for on Oscar night- her Prada gown. The dress, which Anne said she “didn’t know” she’d be wearing “until “about 3 hours” before she hit the red carpet, had pointy darts right around the area where Anne’s nipples would be, and has since been talked about, laughed about, and even earned Anne a whole new Twitter page dedicated just to her nipples.
Oh Anne, perk up … no wait, that may be a poor choice of words. What I mean to say is, when the critics start to get you down, just glance over at your many, many, many awards and remember none of them will probably ever receive one.
