Oscar Pistorius Is Suicidal, Reveals Friend In New BBC Documentary
In a new BBC documentary titled, Oscar Pistorius: What Really Happened? Oscar’s best friend, who the athlete calls “Uncle Mike,” admits that he fears Oscar may be suicidal.
“I’d go as far as to say he would be on the verge of suicide,” Oscar’s pal, Mike Azzi, said about the track star’s mental state since being charged with the murder of Reeva Steenkamp.
“He’s just like someone walking around in circles. He doesn’t know where he is going. I would say that, just by speaking to him, he is a broken man. I get the feeling that he’s really hurting and he’s an inkling of the man that he used to be,” Mike continued, adding that Oscar is “selling off all his property and everything because of the legal costs.”
Aside from this possible ploy to make us sympathize with the athlete, who claims he “accidentally” shot and killed his girlfriend in his home thinking she was an intruder, the documentary also reveals that just after police arrived on the scene of the shooting, Oscar allegedly told them “I’ll survive. I always win.”
Hopefully he won’t win the appeal to ease his bail restrictions filed by his lawyers. Per the terms of bail, Oscar is prohibited from drinking, leaving the country, and returning to his home, all of which he apparently feels entitled to still do.
As for Oscar’s good friend Mike, although he says he is there for Oscar, and believes that Reeva’s death was an accident, he also realizes that sometimes people snap, but hopes that’s not what happened in Oscar’s case; “in life there are those moments of madness where people are just uncontrollable. I pray to God that’s not the case with him.”
