Lil Wayne Reveals He Has Epilepsy, Says He ‘Could Have Died’ From Seizures

Weeks after TMZ shockingly reported that Lil Wayne was on his death bed after suffering multiple seizures, the rapper is now speaking out about exactly what happened and his current health status.

Back on March 12, Lil Wayne was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital after suffering a number of seizures. Then on March 15, while he remained in the intensive care unit, TMZ reported he was dying and in a coma.  However, those close to Wayne denied TMZ’s report and days later he was released from the hospital.

In his first interview since his reported near death experience, Lil Wayne, 30, reveals he has epilepsy.

“The bad news is I’m an epileptic, I’m prone to seizures,” said Wayne to Los Angeles hip-hop radio station Power 106 on March 28. “Like, this isn’t my first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh seizure. I’ve had a bunch of seizures, y’all just never hear about them. But this time it got real bad ’cause I had three of them in a row and on the third one, my heart rate went down to like 30 percent. Basically, I could’ve died, so that is why it was so serious. But the reason being for the seizures is just plain stress, no rest, overworking myself.”

Interesting comments there by Wayne as there had been reports that some of his recent seizures were triggered from an overdose of street drug “sizzurp.” In fact, TMZ stated the doctors had to pump his stomach three times.

Lil Wayne adds that he surrounds himself with good people who know what to do in the case he suffers a seizure.

“They already know how to handle it,” he said. “Certain times I don’t even go to the hospital, but this time, it was real bad because, like I said, it was three in a row, and I’ve never had three back to back like that.”
