Brandy Reveals She Had An Eating Disorder

Brandy‘s VH1 Behind the Music special airs tonight during which the singer will reveal her battle with an eating disorder.

Despite being a successful singer/actress in the 90s, Brandy reveals she still struggled with her self image during her teen years. “I wanted to be so thin. That was my main thing,” Brandy, 33, reveals. “So I started not taking care of myself — not eating properly, not eating at all, diet pills, regurgitating, and all of these things that girls do.”

She adds that despite her success, she never felt worthy enough. “People don’t understand that being the hottest star or making the most money does not mean anything,” explains Brandy. “I’m here to tell you I was making so much money — I was omnipresent — and I was the unhappiest teenager probably in the world.”

Brandy also opens up about her first love, Boyz II Men’s Wanya Morris, who split up with her in the spring of 1997. “He fell in love with someone else. The worst feeling is to be in love all by yourself. That feels f-cked up, honestly. It just really does. And that’s the only way I can really put it,” she says. “It felt like somebody had just completely taken my heart out of my body and just crushed it.”
