She didn’t want to hurt his feelings by vetoing him outright, but she has no plans to actually let him have any legal right to the child. However, he was up the creek after he referred to the child as his stepdaughter in front of mixed company. A huge fight led to a brief cool down in their relationship and he has remained quiet on the subject since.”

According to a new report, Michelle Williams and Jason Segel are engaged!

The latest issue of Star magazine is reporting that very recently, while Michelle, 31, was in California attending the 2012 Comic Con event, Jason, 32, and her 6-year-old daughter Matilda secretly followed her and waited at her hotel suite while she did press for her new movie.

When Michelle returned, she was surprised not only by seeing Jason and her daughter, but also by the fact that he popped the question.

“Jason had been playfully telling Michelle almost from the time they first started dating that he was going to marry her one day,” a close friend tells Star. “So when he was ready to make his move, Jason knew it had to be totally unexpected, which this was.”

The mag goes into more detail on how Jason pulled off the surprise proposal. “Jason arranged to have Michelle’s hotel suite covered in purple flowers – her favorite color,” says the insider. “He also had Matilda sitting on Michelle’s bed, holding a lavender bouquet for her mom.”

Michelle then picked up Matilda to give her a kiss and saw a little not from Jason attached to the bouquet. “It simply said, ‘Will you marry me?’ and that was that! Pure and simple, just the way they like it.”

Michelle and Jason began dating four years after Michele lost her longtime love and daughter’s father Heath Ledger to an accidental drug overdose in 2008.

And while this story seems somewhat believable, a source close to Michelle however tells E! News she and Jason are not yet engaged, citing that the couple only just started dating this year. Alrighty then!
