Move over Mary Kay Letourneau! There’s a new hot for student “teacher” on the block!

The latest scandal involves high school cheerleading coach Megan Crafton, who was arrested last week after cops accused her of performing sexual acts on a 17-year-old male student.

The 22-year-old, who is engaged by the way, pleaded not guilty to charges, though she earlier admitted to police that she performed oral sex on the Indiana high school basketball player in her car at a supermarket parking lot in January. Classy.

Megan’s lawyer is however claiming that she didn’t break the law, because in Indiana the age of consent is 16.  Authorities disagree, stating that they arrested her because she works for Shelbyville HIgh School and it’s illegal for adults to have sex with anyone younger than 18 that they supervise or oversee.

Her lawyer is now arguing that law doesn’t apply in this case, because Megan, who is not technically a teacher, was only a part-time member of the cheerleading staff, and had no  authority over the teenaged boy.

Megan is being charged with child seduction, a D felony that carries a potential jail term of three years.  Her trial is scheduled for September 24.
