Men in Black 3 Is No. 1 at Box Office! Beats Out The Avengers

Move over The Avengers, there is a new box office champ on the map!

Men in Black 3 was able to accomplish a task no other movie has been able to do, which is taking the #1 box office spot away from The Avengers. The Will Smith movie brought in an astonishing $70 million, thanks to the three-day Memorial Day weekend, with The Avengers finishing in second with $47.1 million.

While the numbers for MiB 3 seem amazing, it still managed to fall below expectations as it was predicted to make over $90 million its opening weekend. The movie reportedly cost over $230 million to make.

The Battleship continued to flop, nabbing third place with $13.5 million in ticket sales.  Fourth and fifth place went to The Dictator and the Chernobyl Diaries, with $11.5 million and $9.5 million, respectively.

Rounding out the Top 10 – Dark Shadows, ($9 million), What to Expect When You’re Expecting ($8.6 million),  The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel ($8 million), The Hunger Games ($3 million), and Think Like A Man ($1.9 million).
